Galaxy tab 10.1 release date

Last February, Samsung announced that their low-cost tablets Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and 10.1 would hit the shelves on March. The last month came and went, and no tablets made an appearance. But the company revealed last Tuesday that the tablets’ release date was pushed to end of April because of some delays.

The Cause of Delay
According to a Samsung spokesman, the company and Google needed more time to work on the Android Ice Cream Sandwich’s support for the device’s TouchWiz UX. However, the representative declined to further elaborate on the issue. Both Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and 10.1 will run on Android 4.0. In fact, the smaller version was expected to be the first Ice Cream Sandwich tablet to arrive in stores.
This is Samsung’s second official setback for rolling out new devices that will carry the latest Android version under the hood. It was announced last March that the company also had a delay in rolling out the update for its Galaxy Note. Now, it’s expected that the said device will have its Android 4.0 iteration during the second quarter of 2012.
On the other hand, Samsung was able to upgrade its Galaxy S II. The latest Android mobile operating system is expected to land on Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, 7.7, 8.9, 8.9 LTE and 10.1.
Features and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and 10.1 will be available in 3G and Wi-Fi models. Meanwhile, the smaller tablet will feature a 7-inch screen with a 1024×600 pixel resolution, and will weight 345 grams. It will also boast the same specs available for the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus like 4000 mAh battery, location-based services with Google Maps, TouchWiz user experience, front and rear cameras, and full HD video playback.
On the other hand, the 10.1 unit will sport a 10.1-inch screen, 1280×800 pixel resolution, dual-core processor, TouchWiz UX, 7000 mAh battery, and will weight 588 grams.
Aside from Android 4.0, both tablets will run 1 GHz dual-core processor, front and rear cameras, up to 32 GB of internal storage and a MicroSD slot for additional capacity. The prices for both tablets are yet to be known.

In order to compete against Apple’s new iPad, Samsung is clamoring to get their hands on the Android Ice Cream Sandwich. However, it caused a couple of setbacks for the company that could push their target market away. Nevertheless, it would be exciting to know how the device could measure up against the latest iOS tablet.
